OCR MAGAZINES acquires Preferred Destinations Magazine

Santa Ana, Calif. – March 7, 2006 – OCR Magazines, a unit of Freedom Orange County Information, today announced the acquisition of Preferred Destinations Magazine, a quarterly publication reaching affluent visitors and tourists through its distribution in Orange County hotels and resorts. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The full-color, 75,000-circulation magazine is distributed in hotel rooms, front desks and concierges at 80 locations across the county, with a particular focus in key tourist and visitor areas such as Anaheim, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach. The magazine features tips and information on dining, entertainment, shopping, maps, and activities in Orange County.

OCR Magazines will release the Spring, 2006 issue of Preferred Destinations Magazine in April. Future issues will be published quarterly. Plans call for a comprehensive in-bound tourism Web site to be launched following the publication of the Spring, 2006 issue.

“ Inbound tourism is a major economic driver in Orange County, and there are roughly 30 million tourists visiting our area each year,” said Chris Schulz, publisher and chief operating officer of OCR Magazines. “Preferred Destinations Magazine is an elegant and engaging magazine that reaches these visitors, and offers local businesses an exceptional opportunity to reach this important market.”

Editorial, advertising sales and operations for Preferred Destinations Magazine will be overseen by OCR Magazines staff. Advertising rates and editorial information is available through OCR Magazines and ocrmagazines.com.

Preferred Destinations Magazine was launched four years ago by Brian Williams, an entrepreneur based in Fullerton, Calif. “Brian has done a terrific job in launching Preferred Destinations Magazine, and OCR Magazines will continue to build on his success,” Schulz said.

The acquisition will help in fueling OCR Magazines’ continued growth in delivering niche products to upscale audiences, Schulz said. OCR Magazines experienced record growth in 2005, with revenues surpassing $7 million.

OCR Magazines’ portfolio includes Coast, a monthly lifestyle magazine reaching affluent consumers in Newport Beach and upscale coastal communities. Coast celebrates its 15th anniversary in November.

Orange County Home is the region’s only true design and décor magazine, reaching 70,000 homeowners monthly. Orange County Home publishes an annual Resource Guide each December.

Private Showing is a monthly real estate publication showcasing premium real estate properties in Orange County. It is delivered to 30,000 high-end homeowners, as well as participating realtors and agents. It also published its second annual Orange County Home Resource Guide in December.

The inaugural edition of Orange County Kids launched in March 2006. This quarterly magazine is delivered to 50,000 families with children throughout Orange County, and will also be distributed at selected doctors and local businesses geared toward children.
